Reflection Week IV by Putra praSetyo

            It was really funny the PETA class last session. It made laugh all the time because the entire students were trying to deliver the materials in a funny ways. I also made a different opening and now it has became a trademark of me ‘AnakSholeh.’

            The hardest task on that day was assessing the performance of my friends. I could not be a good assessor instead of I asked to becoming an educator who will be able to assess my students. I thought I have problem with assessing somebody. I did not want to be mean or easily give extra score to my friends. Even there was a rubric for assessing the performance, I still confused about what grade shall I gave to them. If my lecturer explained me first about the rubric, perhaps it’d be easier for me to give the score.

            The next step was about guessing the models of teaching that my friends used in their microteaching. It was not easy too. I guessed they were trying to use all of the models of teaching, but fortunately I could consider which models they used. It would be more satisfying if my lecturer gave the exact answer about the models of teaching. I thought she tried to make all correct to the entire guesses of my friends.

            Honestly, I did not like the singing part. Could they (and also my groups) use another thing? I thought it was just embarrassing for an early-adult person to singing in front of another early adult. Perhaps with games it would be more interesting and by doing some extra activities like AnnasBentaris’ group whose trying to make an experiment by exploring the volume by guided discovery (one of the model of teaching).

            I did like all of my friends’ microteaching (except the singing part). It was such a funny thing we all tried to make a comedy class in that session instead of teaching practice. I thought next time we shall be more serious (no more ‘comedy session’), because we are going to be the next generation of ‘educators’ not a ‘comedy teacher’.

My Fourth Reflection

Fourth meeting of PETA class, yeah this is last meeting before I and my friends doing teaching assistant. The activities is very interesting,  I and my group was practice microteaching. In my opinion this is help me, to know how to teach in front of the class. Even in front of me is my friend but when I become a teacher in there, I was very nervous. Oh god, it's only my friend. How when I was teaching assistant later? For me microteaching is an idea of ​​how I am going to teach. 

 I can't imagine myself when I stand in front of the class. With short stature, standing in front of the classroom with student in senior high school.  But, I have to believe in myself that I can do my best, because I think the theories when I learn in SSE is sufficient to doing teaching assistant in senior high school. My voice should be louder in order not invincible by their voices that are noisy, I can imagine how naughty high school students because I had experience something like that. Make annoyed the practicing teacher :D  Let see what will happen tomorrow.

My immagination when i become real teacher

After studied PETA week 4, of course i always got new knowledge. This day i saw my friends practice teaching. Wow great, amazing and also made me spirit to become real teacher. But one think at long time ago until now about teaching is not easy but not always difficult.

In PETA class, now i knew how to make teaching to become easy? Practice. All students practice teaching  with team teaching. They are made different model instructions with vary methods.  It is made PETA class challenged and colour full. I think every people have different ideas and different way for teaching. but the goals always same is make effective teaching, learning and assessment.

REFLECTION WEEK 4

          Last week, in PETA course I learned about microteaching. I think that microteaching is easy to do but actually, it is difficult too. When I want to do microteaching, I should have a good preparation and communication. However, microteaching is very interesting. I felt nervous when my group performs last week. I think that more practice will help me to less my nervous when I teach in front of class.

          A month! It’s been 4 weeks to PETA class. There have been many things I, personally, learn about teaching and learning process. In this meeting, we did a role play to teach in a classroom. It was cool. I could watch friends’ way to teach using various teaching models. Inspiring!

4^th meeting in peta class was very interesting. My class did teaching practice. Well, the third meeting was more interesting actually. Why? Because my group did the teaching practice at that time. But its okay, my friends’ performance in teaching practice was very great.

The Fourth Reflection

October 9, 2011, in PETA class we did micro teaching. We divided into 6 groups and each group must perform some micro teaching based on lesson plan that we make on previous meeting. When one group perform, and other groups must guessing for the model instruction that him use based on the model instruction that we learned on the previous meeting. My group performed for the last. Actually, when I perform, I will used direct instruction, but I don’t know why, it change be lecture discussion. Surely, almost all of my friends using lecture discussion. I don’t know how can it happened. This model instruction may also be used in teaching process later when I be a teacher.

Micro Teaching in the Class

         Last week in the class PETA we did a micro teaching for all of the students. We divide to six groups and in each group consist of 4 students. That’s enough for the beginning of micro teaching because all of the member group doing the presentation. In my opinion, all of us is very good performance because many models of instruction that we use in micro teaching, it’s wonderful.  I think the students will interesting with the models that we use, but sometimes we forget to understand the students does the students can understand with the way that we use.  Then, at the end in the class Miss. Mima gave advice for us to be better.

What kind of teaching do you use? (Just call me Ben)

            Wow, what amazing micro teachings! My friends are so amazing. I learned how to deliver a lesson by micro teaching. I know that the micro teaching was still the simple one. However I got new knowledge in teaching mathematics as well. I learned from some groups that did the micro teaching clearly.

            When Dasrizal and his group presented their teaching, I got new fresh method that in teaching we could use an interesting video. In fact, video could be a media that will build the students’ understanding. Video that drawing a real problem to solve will at attract the students’ desire in learning mathematics. Further, on the video, there was a funny song that would energize the students and made them to be interested. Dasrizal and his group also gave a fun teaching where it made the students learning not under pressure.

Practice to Teach

Transferring knowledge is our job as teachers in the future, but the question is how to transfer our knowledge to our student. We know the way to transfer our knowledge is by teaching. Friends, tomorrow we will have school experiences, can you imagine that? We must try to teach them not only practice in our class but practice to the real situation in school or in class.

Maryatul Kibtiah - Reflection Week 4

            Talking about micro teaching, I am reminded that made ​​me and my friends at PETA class in week 4. We all are equally doing micro teaching and assessing each other, among others. From that meeting, I took many lessons and ways to teach well. In my opinion, micro teaching is an activity for teaching practice. Micro teaching should be carried out during several days before entering the classroom. Because the micro teaching we do in advance we will be able to teach well. This is because we already know that there are shortcomings in the content of our teaching. In addition, micro teaching also aims to train teachers in improving students' activeness.

One Way to be the Next Teachers

In this week, so many experience that I got. Its are about how to make  our students get attention to us. So, the students not sleep in the class. 

Student will be attention if we make imposing opening. Because opening one of some methods to make fill or engagement from student to us. Then, this is our home work as the next generation of teachers.

          In PETA class, I watched my friends practice teaching and learning activities in group then guessing what models of instruction they used, it turns out almost all of them use lecturer discussion to teach the students. It makes me guess that when I teach my students I can't leave lecturer discussion models to teach the formula in mathematics. I don't know yet my guessing is right or not, may I can know that in teaching assistant.

    Last week we did micro teaching in front of the class for every group. Each group show the best I think. I enjoyed in the class when another group did it. They are so creative and prepare well. Great for us :D . For me, Actually I really nervous when did micro teaching. Suddenly, I am not confidence and afraid to show up in front of the class. However, I tried to be confidence and push my self that I can did it. Finally, my group did it well I think. How do you think about my group guys ? hehe .

As a teacher, you must be yourself

Last meeting, all of us did micro teaching. As we know, all of us have different character. Even, when we have to use the same model of instruction, but we still did it with different way. We often do micro teaching, especially in third semester. I just think that the way we teach the students it is also influenced with our character. But, we can’t depend with it, if we are an introvert person, is it mean that you have to use only direct instruction when teach? Of course, no. So, is it mean that we have to change our character, I think no. So, what must we do?  I just think like this, we don’t need to be another person but we just need to learn how to be the best one to our students. Do you have other opinion?

My experience in Micro Teaching

At the fourth meeting, I feel very happy because I can see the appearance of my friends in the micro instruction. My group consisted of Annas, Sofi, Rina and also Woro. But because the first group had done a week ago, so we have a turn before the 2nd. I felt very nervous when a group of us are called to practice the lesson plans that we made last week. I was so panicked, to the extent that the box on the paper I had made previously to visualize how to find areas of excess ten boxes. Huhuu .. It feels shy when in front, when a friend corrects me that if excess of ten boxes. Hahaaa, fortunately I was able to find any other reason and make it as a joke.

          Yeah..!! Finally, this is the last meeting in Peta’s class before my friend and I must doing teaching assistant. In that meeting, I learned about microteaching that used models of instruction. It was really helped me as a teacher, because I got many suggestions to teach in the class. In Peta’s class, my friends and I tried practice to teach using models of instruction in a group. From there, I could know how to teach using models of interaction.

On Monday 10^th October 2011, I have learned PETA (again) J I love so this meeting, My friends and I have done microteaching. It was really amazing. There are many things that I had from this activities.

Using Instructional Models for Micro Teaching

Last meeting in PETA’s class. Hmmm that’s a great day. I learned how to use instructional model for teaching and learning. We had six groups actually. Every group have their own way to tought and we do the instructional model by micro-teaching.

We know if micro-teaching is useful for us to improve our teaching ability. We use some of instructional models that we know, and every one groups onward class, other groups must guess what the kind of instructional model that they used.

All is Well… All is Well

             PETA course last week is great. We have learned about microteaching and models of instruction. I felt that is very interesting because each team work have different methods in microteaching. So, I think that be reflection. We can share about our methods so that we can add our knowledge about a practice methods to teach in class.
