On the PETA class this time, I got a lot of valuable experiences. Besides, I can understand more about the Models Instructions that, I also practice applying the models instruction directly in front of class yesterday although just a moment. But, I also can see how other friends applying these models for teaching to the students.
After I did microteaching together with my friends, it turns out it is not easy to teaching I feel. Many things should be aware and prepared. Like my group has prepared everything for microteaching yesterday, it turns out there was still less. Maybe because we have not been accustomed to in front of class so when teach the result is not maximized. Sometimes the classroom situation is also unpredictable. For example as a teacher who is ready to teach with lesson plan and complete with timing of the lesson plan. But it does not support the classroom situation, students noisy when we teach the concept, saturated or bored. Well, the first lesson can I learn from microteaching activity this time is the teacher should be ready with all the conditions, and all possibility that will occur or have plan B if Plan A has been appropriately used.
In addition to the class PETA yesterday I am also become familiar with differences of lecture ad direct discovery, the fundamental differences that, is lecture that there are still discussion between students and teacher, but in direct instruction the instruction just from teacher and then students understand the material from teacher’s explanations.
Teacher also can combine different models instructions that are applicable to the material that day. For example material on statistic can use lecture and group discussion. Or when we teach the shapes or three dimensions we can use guide discovery and direct instruction if appropriate. All models can be used in any material depends on the teacher setting this class so that the students can be comfortable to get material. It turns out after all the models applied in front of classroom instruction, that not only in the discourse but I see how to its application. Well, this is my reflection, what do you think?
