Wirman's Reflection about Effective Teachers

Last week I joined PETA class. I learned many things after I joined with that class, especially about effective and ineffective teacher in a class. We were divided into six group and each group has to determine the characteristic of effective and ineffective teacher in class, then we demonstrate it in front of the class. Many of us wrote the characteristic of teacher such as well prepare, understand the students, high self reflection, etc. I do agree with that. Because :

 

Well prepare

Every teacher has to prepare the matery well, so the class will be organized well too. With well prepare, teachers can arrange the students well, can give more knowledge, so the students can get the matery well. Me as students also like with teachers who prepare their matery well because I can get the matery clearly.

2.       Understand the students

As a teacher, we have to know that students has different characteristic and different process learning like audio, visual, and kinesthetic. How to understand the students? Of course with providing  various methods that can make them understand about our materies. To provide various methods, we have to be creativity, so we can provide them various materies that can make them enjoy our teaching.  Moreover, as teacher we have to know our students like their name, their background, etc. It can makes us as a teacher not compare them each other.

3.       High self-reflection

So many teachers think that they are everything for their students . Many teachers think anything that they do are right, so the students can not give comments for that teacher. We have to have high-self reflection. We have to realize that teacher is also human that can do wrong. Do not blame students in every single things that they do, we also have to listen their opinions and their comments, because it can makes our teaching can be improved to be better

I also learned  about ineffective teacher in that class such as lazy, bad looking, subjective, etc. 

1.       Lazy

Teacher do not have to be lazy. If a teacher is lazy, how with the students? Of course they will be lazy too. As  a teacher, we have to know anything that the students do not know before, so the students can get more knowledge that they do not know before from us. I will not be lazy and I will keep learning so my students will get more knowledges from me.

2.       Bad looking

Teachers do not need to be handsome or beautiful. They just need to be neat and have smell good because students like with teacher like this. They will feel comfortable with us as a teacher.

3.       Subjective

Teachers do not be subjective. They must be objective, especially when assessing the students. Every teachers needs to have clearly assessing methods, so they can assess the students well. Now, as a student I just do not like with teacher who subjective because I can not get score that I have to deserve. So I will be objective teachers for my students. I will assess my students as objective as I can.

Thank you for PETA class that give me more knowledge about effective and ineffective teacher in a class. This matery will be very important for me as the next generation of teacher.
