Wow, it was the third meeting in the PETA course. What have I learnt in this session? Yeah, I learnt about model of instructions. Not of all model of instructions that I learnt in this meeting, I just learn about direct instruction, group interaction, guided discovery, and lecture discussion. I initially thought that there is no model of instruction. Each of them has their own strenghts and weaknesses, and it used according to the needs.
When I was in the senior high school, especially in the mathematics class, my teacher just use direct instruction model. I don’t know whether she didn’t know the other models, or had no enough time to use other models, or mathematics itself just can be provided using direct instruction models. Indeed, my teacher was not from mathematics education, but from electrical engineering. She didn’t know anything about pedagody. Beside that, I had to complete all the materials in 3rd grade senior high school only in one month. So, I think my teacher had no choice, that’s why she only use TCL and direct instruction model.
Then, what is the most appropriate model of instruction that should we use to teach mathematics? Well, I think all of them are appropriate, and each of them can be combined depends on our needs, topic’s level of difficulties, time allocation that available, and the advantages that will students get from each of the model.

TCL and Direct Instruction? do you think both of them different? can you explain to me about that ? because I think Direct Instruction similarity with TCL.
ReplyDeleteGood reflection haryo,
ReplyDeletei also have same experience with you.
my teacher always use Direct Instructions when teaches.
sometimes i feel so bored.
But i think that my teacher think about limited time.
As the next generation of teacher we have to think about the ways out of that problem.
:)
ma
great reflection haryo.
ReplyDeleteI have same experience with you and woro.
But,I think my teacher was patient and make the students understand. not always the direct instructions is not good, it is depend on the material and goals.
good haryo,,,
ReplyDeletewe must think about other things, sometimes when the teacher uses a variety of turns can make the grade are not effective. so as prospective teachers, we must be creative in delivering lessons...
