This is the second reflection which I write after learn about UbD. When first I read the material for week two before the course, I thought the material was so complicated, but when the day came, it was so wonderful, so fun, but we still got the meaning. There are so many thing that we can learn.
First, we learned about effective and non effective teaching by watching video in the 1st grade of a primary school. That is a funny learning video, we can determine which part which effective and which part which not effective. Then, we can adopt the effective method as our additional reference for teaching.
As we know, to teach 1st grade student is very not easy, they are so active. I remember when I was a 1st grade student I was very calm but my friends was very energetic, someone was always crying, the other can’t be silent, even my teacher must called his mother to made him stop crying but he still crying, finally my teacher asked his mother to take him out. When I watched that video the class is very organized, the student is so active, even when the teacher don’t point him ^^. Nobody’s perfect, the teacher still have not effective side, the most is for the assessment, we can learn from her mistake.

I remember when we were doing the discussion, it was very nice discussion. Somebody see from this side, the other from the other side, and then we made the conclusion. For a moment I think, in SSE we learn by many method of teaching, whether it can really apply in public school especially in mathematics subject. Whether in the future we can use TGT, round robin, PBL in my subject . Of course, we must try.
After that we learned about UbD or understanding by design, we made a simple lesson plan by UbD framework and it was not easy, even when we have made some lesson plan before but it still spent much time to think what kind of activity that we will create to make the students understand the learning material. Stand up in front of class is not easy moreover, to know the understanding of each student, but it doesn’t mean impossible. Many great teacher as an example, if they can, why we can’t.

ReplyDeleteWe got a lot of learning as teachers candidate through the playback video. It is important that we can highlight the activities carried out in accordance with the class whether learning objectives?
Ya, we have a different perspective of seeing things :)

We still learn to be effective teacher.
Although the teacher in that video have ineffective part, but she tried to make active class, It can be seen from the way she teached with a good preparation.
I also very calm when I was in 1st grade, i was so afraid hahha. I think children at present are different with children when we were being a child, most of them go to school without parent, really different with my experience. :D
