As we know,
teacher is a facilitator for students. Teacher should deliver materials to
students as clearly as they could. Teacher wants their students can reach the
learning goals and hope the students can develop their knowledge. To know
whether the students have developed their knowledge or not, teacher should
assess them to take score from
students’ assignments “Practise makes perfect”! That is
what many teachers think about. Many teachers think that with doing so many
practise, students will understand the concept and develop their knowledge
easily. That is why many teachers give so many assignments for the students.
In other side, some
of the students still feel frustrated when teacher gives them so many assignments.
They think that doing too many assignment make them confuse and under pressure.
Do
you feel the same like in this case? :p Actually, when they
doing assignment they will learn something
from that assignment or learning process, but if the teacher
gives too many assignments, they will
just do it to get the score. Here we can see that the students just do the assignment without
knowing the meaning of assignment that teacher think about. Teacher
assess students and the students just do assessment of learning, and do not realize about assessment
for learning and assessment as learning. Teacher
sometimes ignore students’missconcept after they assess the students. Teacher
continue the lesson without checking whether the students have understood about
th concept or not.
Before
we learn about assessment model in PETA, we know about conventional model which
teacher should make lesson plan, apply it in classroom, give post-test to
students to know their score, then they continue the lesson without knowing
students’understanding. But, after we have already learned in PETA course, we have been knowing about standard based
model. It is about teaching model for teacher to teach the students. Our group thought that
standard based model is the best model to teach. First step in based model is
how to make a plan (lesson plan) for each meeting, after that teacher can teach
the students based on lesson plan. Next steps, teacher gives test or quiz to
the students, from that, teacher can know whether the students understand about
the material which teacher given. If there are some students who get low score, teacher should not move to the next lesson, but teacher should try another
plan that can make the students mre understand. Teacher should give more practice
for them, teacher should give feedback,
then teacher can move to the next
lesson.
Now
we have two questions. As a teacher candidates, What do you think about this
issue? And How can you solve that issue? You may comment and giving another

My teacher said that mathematics teacher must give homework for students even 5 questions because students must practice mathematics for themselves to make them have better ability in mathematics. I do agree with it because if students is not given homework students won't learn mathematics besides in the class. I think your issue is great, nice.. I very like standard based problems, although it will take long time.. But I have to learn how to manage time when teach in the classroom,so I will control the time, not the time that control me..

ReplyDeleteI agree that if teacher give many assignment it will make students confused, but we can not judge that students do it only to get score.
I believe that someday I will say thank you to that assignment although at this time I fell confused and do not like with that assignment:).

ReplyDeleteWhen i was in senior high school, i never did all of my assignment. Usually i just did half of all assignment. I though that did the assignment just waste my time. Because my teacher give many assignment with the same models of question.
But, now i know why my teachers give me many assignment in that time, actually they wants to assess my work and want to know the level of my understanding and also they want their students reviewing what they have learn in school.
Assignment is very important for students, i think.

ReplyDeleteI feel so,if the assignment again and again,that is monotone, maybe if the result of the student is not good, the teacher have to reflect to their strategies of teaching, maybe the strategies make the student feel bored and make the student didn't understand what the assignment suppose.

ReplyDeleteI think as a good educator before we give students assignments we have to tell them first what is the meaning of that assignment and what for students have to do that.
