“For the next
meeting we will learn about assessment” that is what Bu Mima said in previous
meeting. After we try to do assessment in our meeting, last meeting we learn
about assessments as, for and of learning. If I interpret the meaning of each title
I can get a basic assumption that assessment as learning, assessment for
learning and assessment of learning are relevance with teaching and learning
process. Firstly hear about that I did not know what the differences among
three of them are. So I guess that I will hard for me to understand about that
because I think the purpose is same.
First activity Bu
Mima gave us article about assessment as learning. Honestly I did not focus
read my article maybe was because I was tired or because I was bored about my
article, it is only contain some quotes. However I tried to understand the
content of that article. Unfortunately I
only understood one quote about assessment as learning that is how the students
do self-assessment and pair-assessment and even after Bu Mima explained about
it and I did group discussion I still confused.
When reading the
material about assessment as learning I did not focus and still confused. When
read the second material which is about assessment for learning I was more
focus so can get the point. I was always hesitant when reading article or
anything in English language. I afraid I will misunderstand the content and I
could not get the same point with other. I like assessment for learning,
because that is continuity so the students and teacher can review and make
reflection for the next meeting.
All of members in my group read about
assessment for learning so Wirman from the other group explained to us about
assessment of learning. If I was not mistaken Wirman said that assessment of
learning is about how teacher make a plan for the future assessment based on the
characteristic of students in the classroom. So I conclude that assessment is teacher
activity to make strategies and design the activities in learning process. So
this assessment happens before teacher starts the lesson.
However when I found the website which list
the differences between assessments of, as and for leaning I read that
assessment of learning happen in the end of learning process. That is make me
confuse I do not know about when is the assessment of learning happen. However,
I am sure that assessments of, as, and for learning happen during teaching and
learning process.
After our activities in last meeting I found
out that it is not difficult to differentiate between those assessments. However
certain I must learn more about that. The last as I know if I want to
understand the material during the class I must focus to the lesson. :)
