Make a Rubric


Last week, January 2nd the first time we meet again in class PETA and we learn about effective teaching and assessment. I like this class because Miss Mima did not open the class by new lesson or previous lesson, but ask me how about the holiday and New Year or Christmas. I think that is way how to get attention from the students. After that, she asks me about the previous lesson and related it to the next lesson.
In this class we talked about “Rubric”, how to make a rubric, what the content that has to assess is, and what the character of content is. Learning by doing is more effective, so the lecturer divided us into groups of three. We make a rubric how to make assess the presentation. After that one of the groups did performance to teach in the class, then the other groups did assess to him. I like this step because I know the lack from our rubric that we made.
Evidently, make a rubric is not easy because the character of content has to appropriate and objective to the performance, but rubric is important for us as a teacher how to assess the students objectively. Rubric is a guide for me to assess something (performance, task, or portfolio) that appropriate with the content. In addition, we learnt about the kind of assessment. There are portfolio, anecdotal record, checklist, and grading. From the discussed in the class I know the lack and excess when I use that.
After this class I hope I can make a rubric objectively when I have to teach in the class. The rubric assessment can make the students feel that the teacher to be fair to the all students. Then, I can use the kind of assessment to make students feel the various when do the assessment. I think they can feel that the assessment does not multiple choice or essay like me when I was in junior high school, but the assessment can be various. Hopefully, we will be a good teacher in the future.
