Exciting Adventure for 2 Weeks

For PETA class this time I and my friends shared about our experiences when become teaching assistant in school experience yesterday. We have got the wonderful stories when first confronted with the students in the classroom. I have tried to implement effective learning that I got in PETA class. But there are many things to consider again when teaching. Not only the methods or materials that should be consider when teaching.  But also the way of deliver the material to the students so that students understand the teacher’s explanation. In addition we should also attention the level of students understanding. We should also assess the extent to which students understand what we delivered. As we know the ability of the students receive lessons in different.  So as teacher we should be able to choose the right methods so that all students are covered in this learning.

There are some teachers have not lesson plans to teach because they are already accustomed to with the same method. So even they create lesson with as neat as possible in class sometimes also used only one methods and the teacher was familiar with how to use that methods. And some students at various schools are familiar with that method as in the school where my school experience. Students also familiar with the lecture method described by teachers like after they recovered what the teacher wrote on the whiteboard. Because if it was given in paper form as notes described previously, they instead want to notes. Because according to them by noting they would be more familiar with the material. This indicates if the teacher habits also affect the way students learn.

I also felt what it feels like the first time in front of classroom for teaching in real student’s high school. I do not understand the students’ skill in the lessons. This makes I and my friends often have not been able to manage our time in teaching. Although the time line in the lesson plans that we made was well organized I think. But beyond all forecasts, that because  sometimes the students should be need guidance slowly in order to understand the material well. According to the mentor teacher said if we teach the most important is that students should understand the concepts that we teach first. Then we give the games that make students interest in learning. But the lesson plans remain important advance was made in preparation for teaching. We can use the lesson plans that we have made and have we used for teaching for make reflection of the way we teach.

After exchanging teaching experience and discuss the problems we faced during teaching eventually arose the question “whether it’s teaching methods effective?” Of the various methods of instruction that I learn not all be implemented in the classroom. This means that as teacher we should be able to choose the right teaching methods depending on situation class, students’ abilities, and material that will be delivered. That is my reflection, how about you?
