Fifth Reflection by Putra praSetyo

Being a teacher is challenging (not hard).
That is my reflection of my two weeks of teaching experience. Last session of PETA class, we were discussing about the teaching experiences in each school. I had no idea why I laughed all time that session. It was such a funny thing to hear my friends’ story about their teaching experience.
There was one story that made me inspired. The story from Ulpan Dimas and Ahmad Apriyanto. They told my friends and I that before they began to teach they gave the students the brain teaser, after they collected the result they were very surprised that none of the students could make it good. Then they told the students that before they started to do the exercises they had to read the instructions.
They inspired me to do the same things in the future. The funniest story was coming from Nurul Hidayah that her students were very attractive (the boys) when the bell rang and they just told her, “Time is up Miss. Time is money!” Wow. I was shocked. In my school, SMA Negeri 54 Jakarta, I did not experience bad things, I guessed. But, my friends had (what I thought) wonderful experiences.
One thing that I realized that being teacher is not only about delivering the materials but also about making connection between our students and ourselves.
