Wirman's Eight Reflection

In the last meeting of PETA class, I learned more about assessments, especially about three approaches of assessment; assessment of learning, assessment as learning, and assessment for learning. At that time, talking about that, I just can say HARD and CONFUSED about that. It was so hard for me not because Mrs Mima can not give us (gave me) good explanations, she was really good in giving explanations like usual. She still made us having critical thinking and the learning process did not make us bored. But it was so hard for me because to know the differences about assessment of learning, as learing and for learning itself is really confusing. They have almost same characteristics that is hard to distinguish it.

The first think that we did in that session is Mrs. Mima asked me to watch two movies about assessment. I felt de javu at that time. I thought I have ever watched that movies in EP class, but I was wrong :p I have not watched that movies yet :p That was really good movies about assessment actually. It talked more about assessment itself.

After that, we were divided into group and we were asked to read a reading material about that three approaches of assessment. After that, we had to discuss it with our group. A lil thing that I know from that three approaches is assessment as learning means ongoing process, students can reflect what they have not understood yet and what they have understood, so they can do better and learn more about what they have not understood yet.

About assessment for learning means teacher gives excercise for students so the teacher can measure the students’ undertstanding. And about assessment of learning, i have lil problem with this, I have different understanding with Sofi, but in fact our understanding about this is not that different. We have same understanding about it. Assessment and learning is usually in the end to know students’ understanding, but before that teacher should make strategy to make assessment that appropriate with the activities and goals learning.

I think it is better if we can get the conclusion of the differences about that three approaches of assessment from Mrs. Mima J. It can make us knowing what we have not known yet about that three approaches of assessments J Keep learning! J
