Is This a Reflection (10)?
Happy New Year 2012! New Year, New Assignment, New Reflection! Last
2nd January was the first meeting of PETA course this year. The
class continued the topic being discussed in the previous session. It was about
rubrics. The special thing in last session was that we tried to create a
rubric.
And you know what?
It was hard!
When created the rubric, my group didn’t think that hard since we
only need to write what we want to assess, and we created the biggest score
first, then we decrease the score to be smaller for smaller categories. Then we
finished the rubric.
The lecturer wanted us to test
the rubric if it is compatible to assess a teaching performed by some friends.
In fact, my group used to get confused to score each category.
Then I realized the weaknesses of the rubric of ours. The rubric
contained many points in each category. Therefore, when I wanted to give a
score to the performer toward a point, I couldn’t score it since another point
was not satisfied.
Then the group of mine reflected that it was not that easy creating
a rubric. We tried to find a solution. The solution is by separating all points
to be one category, so we’re able to assess more specifically. However, I
haven’t tried this solution. I’ll try it in the next opportunity.
All in all, I recognize that creating a rubric is not easy thing.
So, I just want to appreciate lecturers who have created rubrics by doing
everything in right way J.
